You are warmly invited to the launch of the Leamington Neighbourhood Plan on 14th January, 2017 at the Town Hall between 12pm and 5pm.
There will be lots of family friendly activities going on to celebrate this new idea, the new year, and a new beginning – planting seedlings with the help of the Leamington In Bloom team.
Do come along and give your views about the future of Leamington including it’s open spaces – more details are below.
What’s the Neighbourhood Plan all about?
Do you want to be somebody who has a say over where new houses, shops and offices are built in Leamington? Maybe you have ideas about how the main shopping areas could be improved? Or maybe you want to protect the open spaces you love? Or ensure there are enough new homes in Leamington for those who want and need them?
Then the Neighbourhood Plan could be right up your street!
A Neighbourhood Plan is –
- a document that sets out planning policies for a designated area e.g. Leamington Spa
· written by local people who know and love their town
· a powerful tool to promote and support the right types of development in the right places
The Neighbourhood Plan, (once adopted by the local planning authority – Warwick District Council), has real legal force and must be considered by the planning authority and developers when potential planning applications come forward. It becomes a statutory planning document alongside the Local Plan.
It can cover a wide range of topics such as housing, transport, parking, retail, conservation, open spaces, design, energy, environment, crime and safety etc. And once adopted, the Neighbourhood Plan has a positive impact on how much funding Leamington Spa receives from developers of future sites in the town for community infrastructure.
Make a difference to where you live.
