Project “Geraniums 2017” starts.
By Jim Dean
In the week after the Easter holidays 815 tiny geranium “plugs” along with pots and compost will be delivered to 17 participating primary and junior schools in the town. The children will grow the geraniums until July when volunteers from the Leamington in Bloom Committee will collect them and plant them up in the Geranium Trains that will brighten up the steps of the Temperate House in Jephson Gardens and Platform Two at the Railway Station all summer long. Last year apprentices from the Craft Department at Moreton Morrell College completely rebuilt the engines and trucks which were slowly collapsing after 15 years’ service. We were very grateful for their public-spirited generosity in charging us only for the cost of the materials.
