New planters, paving, and seating have been put into Livery Street (Regent Court) along with 3 bronze sculptures of elephants. They were commissioned by the landlord NewRiver Retail from artist Philippa Downes, and depict “The Three Graces”.

The story of the elephants in Leamington Spa is well known (see our other posting here) and this sculpture is of Wilhelmina, Trilby and Haddie.

The elephant owner and trainer was Sam Lockhart who lived on Warwick New Road in a house that now forms part of the development of flats on Wilhelmina Drive.
